MY DAYDREAM
(Free translation from Russian by the author Yosef Latman)
My daydream, either ghostly or elusive.
I don't understand myself - can be illusive?
With what phenomenon is this comparable to. -
My daydream is, suddenly, flying away, to the Heavens,
And then , as a materialy-minding essence,
My daydream can strange trick plays do
And then, having pressed its wings to body, is falling down,
And, leaving into the clickety-clack of the wheels on the rails,
Is ruling sad round dances -
as escape from the past out.
Who gave me the daydream - I don’t know
The fate, apparently, - with my born.
Gaining strength over the years, as a storm,
The daydream imposes the power own.
Rushing through life, anxiously,
From my infancy to gray hairs,
My daydream sometimes behaves carefully,
Sometimes - as fighting knights.
My daydream has not changed and by the end of days, -
The disposition and whim - all, as in childhood of mine.
Let daydream not came true, but and not resigned,
And not solidified as a dummy - a man in stress.
